Maggie a la Mode - Schutz Fomo Booties.jpg

Happy Monday, friends! I took a step back this weekend with my wardrobe and evaluated what it really needs instead of continuing on with impulse purchases. I tend to buy with my heart and not with my head, so I will end up with a lot of cool items, but I need some basics to tie them together. This list is all the perfect pieces you need this season to keep your fall wardrobe modern, but timeless. Let me know your thoughts below!

Burgundy Crossbody

Burgundy is definitely the color of the season, so I have been craving a leather crossbody in a rich, deep oxblood. If I'm being totally honest here (and when am I never not??), I really have my eye on this beauty from Mulberry, but it's definitely out of my price range (a nice look-for-less is here). Lucky for me I'm also loving this camera bag, which is another huge trend for fall.

Statement Booties

It's not a fall outfit with some booties! They are definitely my favorite autumnal footwear; they work for women of all heights and can truly transform a look. The styles I'm in particular love with this season are this studded pair (pictured above) and Everlane's newest Chelsea boot - I've heard great things (and don't forget that Everlane is now at Nordstrom until Nov 12)! For a fun twist, these half-d'orsay booties are also on my wishlist. I love the bohemian vibe they add to an outfit.

Skinny Belt

Another designer buy I am drooling over is this skinny Gucci belt, but I could never justify spending $500 on a belt. To tide me over until I win the lottery one day, I love this studded one (in both black and tan), as well as this tassel belt. With the seventies back in style, a tassel belt is perfect. A great thing about these is while they are "trendy," they are seasonless and almost trendless. You will always have a use for belts!

Black Skinny Jeans

Ahh, the classic black skinny jean. I firmly believe in having multiple pairs of black skinny jeans. Small details really set the pieces apart from each other and give a different vibe to different looks. Whether they're classic mid-risedistressed, velvet, or have uneven hems, a good pair of black jeans are timeless and will get lots of wear in your closet!

Cashmere Dress

I recently started a new job where I am able to wear dresses to work (before I had to keep my legs covered), so I am taking full advantage! I'm excited to buy and wear cashmere dresses this season - you get the ease and comfort of a dress with the coziness of cashmere. Why would I wear anything else?

Striped Tee

This is an item where you're probably thinking that you have enough striped tees. I'm here to tell you that you do not.

I love this tee because the colors aren't your typical black and white - by using grey and forest green it adds a modern and seasonal spin to a classic piece. Another way to add a twist is with bell sleeves and a slight flare like this tee

Fall Jacket

There are a few jackets that I have been eyeing this season, with this black one being at the forefront (it also comes in burgundy, blush, grey, and dark green!). I am digging how a lot of new jackets this season are styled open, so they are more of a layering piece. There are always the classics though, like a utility jacket, and the trendy, like a long, plaid blazer

Pullover Sweater

What's fall without some sweaters, right? I'm so in love with this fair isle sweater (wouldn't it look adorable under some layers?), even if it's out of my price range. You could go with a basic knit sweater with stitching detail, or go for a more statement item by adding buttons or sleeve-ties.
